Our third and final scholarship recipient of the year is Isabella Guerrero. Thank you for all your donations to the Ruben Mejia STEM Foundation. Your support makes it that much easier for kids like Isabella, Jared, and Andre to start the next chapter of their young lives. We appreciate our supporters so much! 💛

Isabella Guerrero is a proud first-generation college student from Watsonville, California. This fall, she’ll attend UC Davis, where she plans to major in Biotechnology. Isabella’s ultimate goal is to become an orthodontist and return to her hometown to offer pro-bono care to families who might not otherwise have access to dental and orthodontic care.

Throughout high school, Isabella was very involved with her community and participated in various clubs and programs that helped shape her. Some of her most meaningful experiences were with Empower Watsonville, a youth led program focused on preventing underage substance abuse. Being involved in this work taught Isabella the importance of advocacy and standing up for the well being of her peers.

As she begins this new chapter at UC Davis, Isabella will carry her roots, passion for science, and a strong desire to give back to the community that she grew up in. 😸🫶🏼

His parents are his greatest motivation, especially considering their immigration status and how technology has facilitated communication for them. Luis is inspired to explore innovative methods of communication to make a difference through his Computer Engineering major at UC Davis.
